Island Community

This Community Information section is a new initiative sponsored by the Sauvie Island Community Association (the county’s rural equivalent to a neighborhood association).  The drop-down menu under The Island Community is divided into these areas of interest to island residents and business owners:

Become a Sponsor  The Sauvie Island Community Association is run by volunteers and funded by sponsorships and donations. Becoming a sponsor gives you great exposure to all those who visit this site (nearly 15,000 visits in July 2012), while helping us maintain the Sauvie Island website and offer programs, events, and Newslinks to our community.

Island Organizations provides a list of island organizations along with their purpose statements, points of contact, and information about their meetings.

County Contacts and Land Use Information page calls up county agency contact information and tools to help islanders understand and comply with existing Multnomah and Columbia County zoning rules and processes.  It includes county contacts, information about land-use terminology, and helpful links to reference material, maps and application forms dealing with the land-use permitting process.  The Land Use drop-down side bar contains links to the status of current permit applications, notices regarding hearings, meetings, key decisions, as well as information about significant historical land-use decisions affecting Sauvie Island.
